1950 Crochet Pattern ~ Free

Free always seems to capture interest.

I am passionate about sharing history.  Needlework was such an important part of daily life in the past. The patience, time, and talent it took to create some of the beautiful works of art continue to astonish me.

The time it takes to scan these books, newspapers, magazines, and other historic documents...so although I'm sharing one pattern here, I'm hopeful that you will consider purchasing the entire book.

I work full time in a manufacturing facility, so I'm sure many of you can appreciate the love and sincere desire to not only preserve the history, but also encourage people to incorporate small pieces of history into their modern lives.

Here is a link to the ENTIRE book with many patterns!

And the price is right! Cheap.  Any purchase helps me continue scanning.  THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.

Click this link that will open a new window and will take you to the 15 page pattern book.

1949 Checkerboard Edging ~ Crochet Pattern

I am trying to get as many of these vintage patterns online so a new generation can enjoy making them.

It would make me SO HAPPY to see some of these patterns actually made, so please post pictures of these projects actually completed!  And if you sell your handmade creations online, feel free to post a link to your shop with your picture.

I am publishing these free of charge, but would be grateful for any amount donation to help offset the time it takes to get them scanned and published.  Even donations as small as 50 cents can help.  I still work full time and have kids in school, so this is a labor of love.  Keeping the art of needlework alive and these vintage patterns working to create heirlooms.

Thank you and look forward to seeing some pictures!

1948 Tatting Pattern ~ Vanity Set

I acquired 2 tatting shuttles years & years ago because I so wanted to learn the art.

There were two sisters in Georgia that had been tatting their entire lives and their handiwork was evidenced throughout the community.  Everyone knew about their talent and everyone coveted the gifts they received from them on special occasions.

We arrived with yarn and shuttles in hand.  The sisters were unmarried and lived in an old family two-story home with few modern amenities. They were so excited to receive guests in their home, they began chatting as they were 'teaching'.  But they had been doing it so long, they couldn't tat slowly.  As they chatted, the piece each of them were working on grew from waist to floor in a matter of minutes.

No matter how we begged them to slow down so we could observe the movement of the shuttle, they just continued to produce mass quantities of beautiful tatting.

Needless to say, I did not learn the art.  But I did enjoy the visit.

This is just one of hopefully many patterns I hope to share.  I would LOVE to see YOUR finished product if you wouldn't mind posting a picture on this post.  It would bring me so much joy to see these patterns being used with a new generation and the art being kept alive.

I'm sharing these free of charge....but of course with a full time job and household to run, it does take time.  If you enjoy seeing, sharing, and/or using these patterns,  I would be sincerely grateful if you could make a tiny 50 cent donation.

On to the project!
